Transfer your SSA Google Drive Files to a personal Gmail Account Google Drive

Students moving on from Shady Side Academy may wish to move/copy their SSA Google Drive files to a personal Gmail account (Google Drive account) so those files are not lost when SSA terminates past graduate user accounts. (It should be expected that accounts will be disabled as of November 30, each year.)

In order to copy/move your SSA Google Drive files to another account, you must have a personal Gmail account or institutional Google account.

Follow these steps:

  1. On your PERSONAL (Gmail) GOOGLE DRIVE, create a folder called “SSA Files”
  2. Share that [SSA Files] folder with your SSA user account.
  3. Then, from your SSA Google Drive,… find the new shared [SSA Files] folder in your “Shared with me” area.
  4. Drag/Copy anything you want from your SSA Google Drive to the folder that you shared with yourself.
Your personal Google Drive folder will only give you 15GB of storage unless you pay Google for more. Your SSA Google Drive could have A LOT more content than that… so you might have to make decisions about what you wish to keep and what you’re willing to lose.
